Absolute Beginners
Today’s yoga class is designed for the absolute beginner. You can do this class if you have never done a yoga class before in your life. I will give you slow, easy to follow, step-by-step instructions and tell you exactly how to get in and out of each and every pose. Detailed instructions will be given for even the most basic poses and how to breathe. You will be given lots of cues of how to pay attention to your body and where to feel the effects of the yoga poses. You do not have to be athletic, flexible, strong, balanced, skinny or coordinated to do this class. The slow, step-by-step instructions will give you the confidence to let go of your self-judgment and stay focused with commitment and motivation.

FABULOUS ! yes, it was clear enough and so helpful. I have been practicing yoga for a little while, with some severe physical limitations. I learned some very helpful things in this video, especially pertaining to alignment. So very true about our (woman’s) hip alignment challenge. I have recently been doing downward dog using a chair, putting my hands on the seat of a chair placed in front of me- which basically is like lifting the “floor” higher. That has been such a blessing. You also helped me understand the purpose of the pose, what muscle area I am suppose to “be feeling something happening” while everything else relaxes (no white knuckling). Melissa, thank you for blessing me with the gift of teaching me to accept and love myself right where I am at and I am enough. I <3 you and am so grateful for you and your teaching. Namaste . Jannie
Thank you so much Jannie, I’m so glad you learned a lot in this video. I love your downward facing dog modification with a chair. That is a good one. Absolutely, if you are feeling it, you are doing it. I’m so glad that you are accepting yourself exactly s you are. I’m grateful to have you as a student and I love how much you are posting on the membership site these days! xo Melissa
I added cactus arms to legs up the wall, is that okay? I like eagle arms too.
Dear Carla, I love how you are listening to your body and making this practice your own. Of course it is ok. 🙂 Namaste, Melissa
