This is Real Yoga for Real People so you can move better, feel better and connect with your true nature, Welcome to A Brand New Series Moving At the Speed of Our Bodies,
Today’s Class is called: The Pressure of Our Lives
We have an incredible amount of pressure in our lives. Our schedules are filled to the brim. We have an enormous amount of personal and professional responsibilities. On top of that the media, advertising and social media exert the burden of perfectionism with endless glossy images of perfect bodies living perfect lives in perfect homes with perfect jobs all the while taking perfect vacations.
In trying to push through and accomplish the to-do list of our lives we inevitably feel this pressure in our bodies. The burden of carrying our load is literally felt in our bodies. Whether the responsibility is thrust upon us or self imposed is inconsequential, the atmosphere of pressure creates a burden in our bodies.
Through our yoga practice we create a sacred space to unload this burden in a gradual, progressive and step by step way. First, by creating a sacred space, where there is quiet and a sense of spaciousness, openness and freedom in our lives, we start to become aware of the pressure and tension that exists in our body. With this boundless awareness we have a choice. The choice to release the strain instead of continually pressing through.
The more and more we begin to unburden ourselves, the more we begin to become aware of the freedom that exists and has always existed within us.
First we will start with a Testimonial: From Darcy via Email:
I just wanted to say thank you! Thank you for these wonderful free classes that you put so much time and effort in each week! Because of them I am a lot happier and healthier. I feel strong and confident. I used to follow along a long time ago but got busy with life and put others before me. I have recently started back up and have decided to do one episode from the beginning each day. I call it Mommys yoga hour lol I am happy to say that today will be my 78th consecutive day and I am loving it more and more each day. Thank you again!
Thank you for taking the time to send your testimonials and leave your comments on YouTube, Itunes, Facebook, Instagram, email, my website. And as always the most in depth conversations happen in our membership community.
Speaking of which, it was a delight to welcome Madeline Sicinski into our membership community this week with our gifted membership from Jennifer Lease. She has been settling in nicely.

Members you would benefit from doing the Three Part Breathing Class today prior to class, I will link to it in our show notes 🙂
We will start by scanning your body and becoming aware of the tension in your body. Notice the pressure that exists in your life, that you put on yourself and start to see how that builds in your body. Notice where it exists in your body. Now give yourself permission to let it go.
Feel the support of the ground underneath you
Feet, buttocks, rib cage, elbows, shoulders, head
Each time you breathe out feel the tension, the burden, the strain, the load begin to sink into the ground
We feel so much pressure to do more and be more, to keep up and this accumulates in our bodies. Allow this to be untethered now. Let these ambitions drop into the ground. Allow the earth to receive the tension, the burden, the strain, the holding on, the load. Let go of the pressure of your life.
We have an incredible amount of pressure in our lives. Reflect on the pressure in your life. Where do you feel it in your body?
Our schedules are filled to the brim. We have an enormous amount of personal and professional responsibilities. What personal and professional responsibilities burden you?
Where do you feel them in your body?
On top of that the media, advertising and social media exert the burden of perfectionism with endless glossy images of perfect bodies living perfect lives in perfect homes with perfect jobs all the while taking perfect vacations. How does the media, advertising, social media exert its pressure on your body? Your life? Be honest …
In trying to push through and accomplish the to-do list of our lives we inevitably feel this pressure in our bodies. The burden of carrying our load is literally felt in our bodies.

From David Whyte’s Consolations: The Solace, Nourishment, and the Underlying Meaning of Everyday Words
“If the world will not go away then the great discipline seems to be the ability to make an identity that can live in the midst of everything without feeling beset. Being pressured asks us to start the day not with a to do list but with a not to do list, a moment outside the time bound world in which it can be reordered and re-prioritized. In this space of undoing and silence we create a foundation from which to re-imagine our day and ourselves. Beginning the daily conversation from a point of view of freedom and being untethered, allows us to re-see ourselves, to re-enter the world as if for the first time. We give ourself and our accomplishments, our ambitions and our over-described hopes away, in order to see in what form they return to us.” David Whyte
Interlace Fingers except for thumb, ring and baby finger. Sit with palms in front of chest. Relax shoulders, breathe naturally. Imagine you are mounting a mythical horse that gallops high into the sky, giving you a clear view of your entire life. With this bird’s eye view, notice what is causing you pressure in your life. Allow yourself to let these things go from your life.

These classes are done in a reclined guided relaxation and will enable you to come into your body, to begin to awaken sensation in the various regions and parts of your body; to begin to uncover tension, relaxing and letting it go; and through releasing downward, to develop a sense of depth and grounding in relation to the earth underneath you.
