How to do Chaturanga Dandasana
Today I have a special treat for you. One of the requests that we often get is questions on how to do chaturanga dandasana. Since I am not an Ashtanga Trained Yoga Teacher nor has chaturanga dandasana been part of any of my yoga teacher training I have brought in an expert and one of The Open Hearted Graduates from our Continuing Education Course for Yoga Teachers, Lisa Kerr. Lisa Kerr is an Ashtanga Trained Yoga Teacher. She points out that Chaturanga Dandasana is used throughout many Sun Salutations, In a traditional 5 count Surya Namaskar A and B, there are 25 in total! Yikes! Proper alignment is so important to avoid injury. In this video, Lisa shows the two common areas where collapse occurs, the shoulder girdle and the pelvis. She demonstrates modifications and offers tips on how to keep your Chaturangas safe for your body.
