Yoga for Grounding
If you experience stress, anxiety, and overwhelm then yoga that focuses on grounding could be key for you. However being ungrounded can cause to much more than just stress and anxiety, it can also lead those unexplained nagging irritations that many of us experience everyday, those things we just try to brush off. From having mental fog to endless mental chatter. Overthinking, irrational thoughts and being up in your head. Feeling overly emotional and overly sensitive about the smallest things. You might even find yourself taking on the emotions of others. Feeling like you are running out of time, having a sense of urgency, and feeling constantly rushed. Feeling like you are ¨spun out,¨ unsteady and even clumsy and accident prone. Even food cravings can be a sign that you are ungrounded.
Why a short daily yoga class specifically on grounding? Quite simply because we live in a culture where our energy is continuously being ungrounded. I created this short yoga class so that you can come back into your body in a daily way to deal with the many ways you are being ungrounded each day.
Over stimulation is one of the key problems that we are contending with. We are over saturated with information in our workplace, in media, marketing, social media and this leads to our nervous systems being over stimulated. According to a 2018 Nielsen Market-Research Study, American adults spend more than 11 hours a day watching, reading, listening or interacting with media.
We spend endless hours on computers, working long hours and ignoring the needs of our bodies. When we are not on our computers we are on our smartphones. Most of our waking hours are spent staring at screens.
Most of us live in crowded cities with a lot of concrete, artificial light and are exposed to rapidly changing environments. We travel at great speeds in cars, on public transportation and on airplanes. We rush from one task to another, we multitask, trying to get as much done as possible. Within these environments we are exposed to an incredible amount of toxicity.
It is undeniable that the escalated pace and external speeds we live by are all part of modern life and pull our energy upwards ungrounding us.

Think about Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh who is well known for his teachings and writings on mindfulness and living in the present moment. Even just looking at a photo of Thich Nhat Hanh you can see that he is grounded and fully in his body. When you listen to him speak and watch him in video, you can hear that he speaks slowly with many pauses (no rushing) and that there is a great stillness and connection the present moment.
This short daily yoga class is designed to bring you back into your body and connect you with the healing and grounding energy of the earth. It will help you feel calm and centered and most of all get and stay grounded. Being grounded allows you to come fully into your body and into the present moment like Thich Nhat Hanh.
