Galloping Goose Trail
This week Tim took me on a surprise outing. We decided to avoid the crowds of people in downtown Victoria for Canada day and head out of town. We packed up the bikes and headed towards Sooke. All I knew was that we were going to ride the Galloping Goose Trail. I actually didn’t realize that the Galloping Goose trail ran through Sooke Potholes all the way to Leechtown. It is a beautiful and doable bike ride. Leechtown is a place where a town used to be. It was a gold mining town. The bike trail goes alongside the Sooke River.
We packed a lunch and some waters and stopped along the way to refuel a couple of times with our packed lunch and even to take a little nap along the the river.
The galloping goose trail is part of the Sea to Sea Green belt, a large corridor of protected wilderness and parkland. These spaces are not just enjoyed by humans such as Tim and myself, but also by cougars, bears and elks. It is such a gorgeous trail with stunning views of the river and the forest.
If you made it all the way to the end give yourself a thumbs up and put ¨Happy Trails to you” in the comments.
