How to Fix Frozen Shoulder for Yogis | 3 Step Relief!
Today Shane from GOT ROM and I are collaborating. https://www.youtube.com/c/GotROM/f
Shane is going to explain a little more about frozen shoulder. It happens more in women between the ages of 40-60. Shane relies on up to date science to reassure us that we don’t just have to wait out frozen shoulder and that there are actually a lot of things we can do to help it.
Props Needed: Lacrosse balls or yoga tune up balls. A light weight.
Shane takes a 3-step relief process. TSR
#1 Tissue Work
Shane begins by leading you through some thoracic spine mobilization doing some myofascial release with the lacrosse balls or yoga tune up balls.
He then activates the nervous system with a self massage of the shoulder. By massaging the trigger points of the shoulder you will help the nervous system to down regulate and release the tension around the shoulder.
The stretch that Shane leads us through is a pec stretch in a doorway. He also introduces PNF stretching (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation)
Finally, Shane introduces eccentric strengthening to rehabilitate frozen shoulder. You will be contracting your muscles and stretching them at the same time.
Shane includes detailed pictures of anatomy and graphs that make understanding and visualizing frozen shoulder a lot easier. In this video Shane shows eccentric external rotation. This is one of my favourite exercises for frozen shoulder.
