Yoga with Melissa 41 is on svadhyaya. This is the second last class in the 10-class series of yoga on the yamas and niyamas. This class will focus on niyama, svadhyaya (study by and of oneself). Nischala Joy Devi suggests that we can come to know our Divine Self through spiritual texts, nature and introspection. This class focuses on our connection to nature through the earth salutation, sun salutation, and moon salutation. The class finishes with a kundalini kriya to know the essence of self.
Thank you for this class, it was at a perfect time I guess. Grounding 🙂 It was so much fun to learn the moon, earth and sun salutations. Moon and Earth salutations were completely new to me but it was very energetic and soothing in it’s own way. My favorite being the self swing at the end….ahh felt so good in the back…You made some really valuable points during the class about not hurrying to be in the form ( pose ) and really honoring the self as part of self study. Acknowledging those limitations and potentials 🙂 I just needed to slow down in my thinking and needed to create some physical energy …I got it through your class. Thank you so much 🙂 Namaste!
rashmisharma12 I’m so impressed that you find these old classes on the website Rashmi! Moon and earth salutations. 🙂 Did you like earth salutation? I have to admit I am not a big fan of the earth salutation. I think it is hard on your neck if you’ve had a neck injury. Slowing down is always valuable advice. 😉 Namaste, Melissa
DrMelissaWest rashmisharma12 Right now everything is so new to me and so much to absorb that I have not still formed any opinion. I am not yet there with any pose but enjoying my ride coz I am just awestruck to find so much of knowledge 🙂 . I don’t think that in my previous two yoga studio experiences they ever offered something like this. It was pretty much around the same poses or may be mastering them…. ( not that I don’t like repetition) your classes capture a theme. Your classes are just not physical exercises …these are thought provoking classes. It is on the path of self acceptance and finding out who you really are………..untill you have not tried most of the flavors…it’s hard to conclude your preferences. It’s not hard core hatha…it has so many other yogic components going on 🙂 it’s a wide framework and a total replica of how our lives are….wide…filled with many people, many challenges, many sorts of love and happiness….many experiences…and our interpretations.
Kerry suggested these classes on the membership site to one of the members…..and that’s how I got started on this 🙂 isn’t that cool. I was just there..at the right moment :):) Thanks to Kerry for routing me and to you for all you have compiled.
I am thrilled to be here and thanking God every single time to finally start a journey like this for me. xoxo
rashmisharma12 I love that you are taking your time to form opinions, but just enjoying the ride – that sounds like the detachment that is taught in the Bhagavad Gita. 🙂 Love, Melissa
