Tweens and Yoga

Does your daughter do yoga with you?

Tweens-and-YogaToday’s question comes from Anne from Facebook:

Does your daughter join you in yoga? I have a 10 year old daughter and I’d love to do yoga together with her. I think it would be beneficial for helping with all the changes she is going through at this age. When I do a longer video or class she’ll do two or three poses with me but then gets restless and wants to do something else. I was curious if you have any advice for starting a practice with her. Thanks!

I think 2 or 3 poses is great Anne. πŸ™‚ My daughter doesn’t actually do yoga with me right now. She goes to gymnastics and right now she plays soccer. She has too much energy to sit and focus internally like me at her age. Right now in her life she needs to blow off steam, not gather prana within! πŸ˜‰ I agree our kiddos are going through a lot of changes at their age, and the most important thing we can do as parents in my humble opinion is lead by example and be centered and grounded in our own selves so that we can be present to them when they need us. Keep practicing your yoga and lead by example, she’s watching. πŸ™‚

What do you think? Do your kids do yoga with you? Do you think it is more important to get them to do yoga with you or lead by example?
