Talking about Aversion
Hi I´m Melissa West and Today´s Living Your Yoga is about the second of the five hindrances outlined by Buddhist studies, aversion.
I´m joined today by Jay Forrest host of Spiritual Wisdom with Jay Forrest.
Jay´s mission is to inspire you to live a peaceful and happy life by learning to think clearly, act wisely, and live mindfully.
He combines the latest in neuroscience and psychology, with eastern and western philosophy, to give you teachings to transform your life. Jay Forrest is a Certified Meditation Teacher, the author of Practical Buddhism, and the host of the Wisdom Podcast.
Welcome Jay 🙂
Why don´t you start out by telling us how aversion is defined within the parameters of the five hindrances?
What is the difference between aversion and staying away from something or someone to keep yourself safe?
How can people find out more about you and Spiritual Wisdom?

Jay has a 5 minute talk on The Hindrance of Aversion that I will link to in the show notes:
Today’s question to answer in the comments is: What yoga pose do you avoid because of aversion and what yoga pose do you avoid to keep yourself safe and why?
If you would like a list of the antidotes to the five hindrances if you click on the show notes and scroll to the bottom, there is an opt in box, type in your email address and I will send you a list of the 5 hindrances and their antidotes.
If you would like more support in probably the most avoided yoga pose, savasana, then I would recommend our savasana class in our membership community. It is part of our postures and pranayama section.
It is a 48 minute long class that prepares your body for savasana with the soft foam roller, it explains how each ayurvedic constitution (kapha, vata, pitta) should prop for more ease in savasana. Then there is a long guided savasana to help you integrate your yoga practice. 🙂
