By discovering the stories of Hindu Goddesses Lakshmi, Parvati, Annapurna, Saraswati, Kali and Durga we discover the personal, archetypal qualities of the Goddess that exist within all of us. This class is not only for women. Hatha yoga translates as ha = sun, tha = moon. Sun is the masculine, moon is the feminine. We practice yoga to balance our masculine and feminine sides in union. Practicing Goddess pose opens us up to our inner power. Connecting with our inner Goddess is one of the most beloved aspects of my personal practice, I hope you enjoy it too.
This class begins in supported reclined bound angle while I introduce you to the Goddesses. We then come to the ground to release your hips in preparation for Goddess Victory Squat later in the class. We even do some Goddess sit-ups to connect with your inner power. When we come to seated we do some zig-zag twist to release your spine. Frog pose will further release your hip joints and groin in preparation for Goddess Victory Squat. We do parts of the spinal energy series to connect with your feminine energy. When we come to standing we do several variations on Goddess Victory Squat. The class finishes with a deep squat or malasana.
